Summer Learning

Canada
I choose Canada because it is the second largest continent in the world, and it is in the Northern Hemisphere.

The three interesting facts about Canada for me are, the weather.  The weather in Canada is very different and the seasons begin in different months through year.  Their summer begins in May and ends August, September.

Another interesting fact about Canada is, Niagara Falls.  Niagara Falls is located on the Niagara river and is found on the border between Canada and the United States.the

The third interesting fact is in part of Canada you can see the Northern Lights.

  1. G'day Liam and welcome to the Summer Learning Journey programme! We are so thrilled to see that you have joined us this year. I am particularly excited to see that you have chosen to go to Canada (my home country).

I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and lived there until I was about 25 years old. It's a really amazing place to live but, as you've noted, it can be very cold. I was actually just talking to my family yesterday and they were telling me that it was about -12 in Canada. They had gotten together to celebrate the holidays and they were stuck inside because it was raining freezing ice pellets all over the ground. When the freezing rain hits the ground it forms a sheet of ice and everything is terribly slippery. It's like a huge skating rink!

Have you ever tried ice skating? It's pretty fun but pretty tricky!

I hope that you will continue to blog with us this holiday. I can't wait to read your posts and share comments with you. I will definitely let my family know that you are visiting Canada as part of the blogging programme. I'm sure that they will read your posts as well!

    Until next time,

    Rachel :)

  2. Bonjour Liam!

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey! We are so happy to have you blogging with us over the summer holidays. I'm looking forward to reading your learning journey. I've never been to Canada before, so I'm looking forward to learning all about the country from you.

My name is Dan, and I'm working alongside Rachel and Mark over the summer. I'm lucky enough to be able to read your blogs and I'll be leaving comments as I go. If you want to reply to my comments then please do! I'd love to know what you think, or if you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

Canada is a massive country! Although a lot of the land there is uninhabitable, meaning it's impossible to live there because the environmental conditions can be so harsh. In saying that though, Canada is a very beautiful place with a lot of incredible places to visit. Niagara Falls would be stunning!

That's really interesting about the Northern Lights, whereabouts in Canada can you see them from? It sounds like you'll be taking us all over Canada on your learning journey, I am looking forward to reading all about it over the holidays.

Keep up the great blogging Liam!

    Dan.

  3. Hi Liam,

Thank you for choosing to look at Canada as a country you might like to visit and to learn about! I'm Rachel's mom and so I live in Canada in a small town called Almonte. The province in which I live is in the centre of this big country. Canada is so big, in fact, that I haven't been able to see all of it yet even though I've lived here all of my life! I'm hoping to travel to the east coast sometime in the next year or two and I'm hoping to travel up to the Yukon as well. Wish me luck!
Perhaps you'll choose to come here one day. If you come in the winter, do bring lots of good warm clothing, perhaps from the Kathmandu store! And you might want to bring camping gear because we have many beautiful parks in which people can camp and canoe or kayak. Lots of fun!

I hope you're enjoying your holiday time!

  5. Hey Liam
I also chose Canada and I think it is a amazing and interesting country. They have their own celebration called Canada day (Which I think is cool). Keep up the spectacular work!
